MILLER&lt;/b&gt;'s work focuses on media and performance, radio and audio, and nonfiction media. He is the author of the recently published &lt;a href="http://www.amazon.com/Tomboys-Pretty-Boys-Outspoken-Women/dp/0472034618/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;amp;qid=1316128779&amp;amp;sr=8-1"&gt;&lt;i&gt;Tomboys, Pretty Boys, and Outspoken Women: The Media Revolution of 1973&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/a&gt; (University of Michigan Press, 2011). His previous book &lt;a href="http://www.amazon.com/Emergency-Broadcasting-1930s-American-Radio/dp/1566399939/ref=tmm_pap_title_popover?ie=UTF8&amp;amp;qid=1321379332&amp;amp;sr=8-1"&gt;&lt;i&gt;Emergency Broadcasting and 1930s American Radio&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/a&gt; (Temple University Press, 2003) was written about in &lt;i&gt;The New Yorker&lt;/i&gt; and &lt;i&gt;The Chronicle of Higher Education &lt;/i&gt;and reviewed enthusiastically in numerous academic journals including &lt;i&gt;Communication Booknotes Quarterly&lt;/i&gt;, &lt;i&gt;Choice: Current Reviews for Academic Libraries&lt;/i&gt;, &lt;i&gt;Journalism and Mass Communication Educator&lt;/i&gt;, and the &lt;i&gt;Journal of American History&lt;/i&gt;. He is the Coordinator for the &lt;a href="http://www.csi.cuny.edu/catalog/graduate/cinema.php3"&gt;Graduate Program in Cinema and Media Studies&lt;/a&gt; at the College of Staten Island. He also teaches at the Film Studies Certificate Program and the Theatre Program at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York Miller has been interviewed by journalists, radio show hosts, and filmmakers for his views on popular culture, radio, and nonfiction media.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Dr. Miller teaches graduate and undergraduate courses on American media history and theory. His approach is influenced by his training in the field of performance studies and an ongoing interest in critiques of Western philosophical and cultural traditions, but he writes and lectures in a style that does not rely upon academic jargon.&amp;nbsp; Miller has served as a Contributing Editor to the &lt;i&gt;Encyclopedia of Contemporary American Culture&lt;/i&gt;, the cultural editor for the journal &lt;i&gt;Social Policy&lt;/i&gt;, and as Managing Editor and Associate Editor for &lt;i&gt;TDR, a journal of performance studies&lt;/i&gt;. His work is widely available online. Before his career in academia, Miller worked in magazine publishing, theatre, and non-profit management.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Some of Edward D.
